Rewind to May 3rd 1942, and Bedford Circus was a highlight of Exeter City Centre. The following day, the infamous Baedeker Raid flattened much of the centre, including the St John’s Hospital School. This statue was rescued from the debris, and stood in the much maligned Princesshay until its recent redevelopment.
