At the former Sachsenhausen concentration camp, prisoners in the punishment squad had to march endlessly around the Shoe Testing Track, testing out soles for German army boots. In the 38°C temperatures today, one lap would have been exhausting, so how some of the prisoners did 20 miles on starvation rations defies belief.
