Saturday 10 July: Cold War Relic



Buried several floors below an average city block is a nuclear bomb shelter, built in 1974 Designed to shield 3200 Berliners from a nuclear attack, it would have housed them in rudimentary fold-down beds for a two week period. Quite what the ‘survivors’ were supposed to do on emerging is unknown, but thankfully the need was never tested.
